The Famed 50s Lord Elgin "Hour Glass"
We are very pleased to present this all-original and impressive Lord Elgin "Hour Glass." One of the real hits of the early 50s, this model is curved from every perspective, sides, top, bottom, crystal, lugs. There's not a straight plane in sight! Yellow gold filled case is terrific, with some of the original finish still shining on the back and none of the usual wear on the high spots. Note all the facets and curves. 25mm by 38mm. Dial is white/silver and original, with gold numerals/markers, hands, and one unusual feature - a red 60 on the sub-seconds dial. Still has its original Elgin glass crystal (tough to find!). Only one tiny spot on the side of the case detracts from fabulous condition. As you all can readily tell, we love Elgins, and this is one real collectors of American Watches should have. Incredible Early 20s Rose Officer's Watch!
This is a remarkable find! Just when you think you've seen them all, this comes along. Rose gold filled three piece case is circa WWI in its design, with small fixed lugs and glorious attention to detail. These features make it a very early post-war civilian version of an officer's watch - between 1919 and 1922. Bezel and back screw on, and overall condition is excellent. Only small scratches on the back detract the slightest bit. Even the usually tender lugs are very crisp and strong. Dial is spectacular and refinished to Elgin factory specs, in a bright porcelain white and 20s railroad style numerals of the period. Original blue steel hands are just right, as is the original rose crown and glass crystal. Perhaps best of all, the movement is a terrific 15 jewel model, which would have made this a truly outstanding wristwatch of the times. It's a nice full size, too, making it very striking even today. Fitted with a caramel colored pigskin strap which was very hard to find but is what she would have come with so many years ago. Finding this watch in white is hard enough, but in pink!? Fantastic. Serious piece for serious collectors and those who value the unusual. Makes an extraordinary formal piece for the modern gentleman. Reference Number: ELG - 131

One of the strongest, rarest and last true Lord Elgins - early 50s with moveable lugs!
Most readers of this page know the famed drivers watches produced by Elgin, Hamilton and others. Those watches often featured moveable lugs, allowing them to be worn on the side of the wrist as well as the top. Well, this model is probably the last of Elgin's drivers style models, and as such is interesting, desirable and nothing like its predessors. Gold filled case is very crisp, with large moveable lugs. 42 by 26mm. Dial is lightly aged with a nice patina, silver with gold numerals and markers and seconds at 6 o'clock. Manual wind trademark 21 jewel Lord Elgin movement makes the inside as prominent as the outside, and a black lizard strap finishes the package. Also adding to the desirabliity of this one is its timeliness as one of the last true Lord Elgin's, before the company went to a hybrid 23 jewel movement in the late 50s and then sold out to foreign competitors. I've had nearly all of the great Lord Elgin models, and this is the first one of these I've ever had. A striking watch under glass or on the wrist! Reference Number: ELG - 124

Motor down to The Varsity in this! - Sharp, white 50s Elgin 19!
Great value in this nice, well designed mid-range Elgin. The 19s were the Mercury or Pontiac of the Elgin family; a cut above the basics, but not quite to the Cadillac or Lincoln level reserved for Lord Elgin. Here, though, it's a nice package, as the hard to find and curved white gold filled case, white dial and features are all in great shape and visually appealing. 37 by 25mm. Case is super, dial shows an even patina but is still excellent. Manual wind movement is working very well. Oh, by the way, it's great with grey and navy blue suits and jackets. Looking for a distinctive watch to wear everyday for modest expense? Look this way! Reference Number: ELG - 125
